Thousands of women resort to IVF and other fertility treatments each year in hopes of being blessed with a child. However, the curious thing is that a good part of these women is what one could call "past their prime" in terms of parenting. Still, these brave women will also not allow the convention to stop them or nature, apparently. Everything is fine, but now that so many older women are having success with fertility treatments, an ethical question has been raised.
The most recently triggered case is Daljinder Kaur, who became a mother at age 72, making her the first oldest mother in the world. Not only in this regard, Kaur's husband, Mohinder Singh Kaur fathered the child in his 80’s.
The old couple always wanted and tried to have children. However, as fate would have it, they could never make it happen. At least, that's until radical advances in fertility science gave them hope again. The happy parents called their son Arman Singh and they have extraordinary plans to raise him, but that's where the friction lies.
Since the two brought their baby home, they have been criticized for choosing to bring a child into the world so late in life. Many people are concerned about the general wellbeing of the child. They believed that having a child so late is cruel and unfair to the child.
Considering that by the time baby Arman turns 18, his mother will be 90 and his father in the late 90s, many feel that the likelihood of Arman being raised into adulthood is almost nonexistent.
The couple began seeking treatment at the Indian National Fertility and Test Tube Center for several years. However, when Daljinder was sixty the clinic confirmed that her physical body was healthy enough to have children. Clearly, the clinic was correct in Daljinder’s health assessment. Not only was she able to conceive and carry the child healthily in full term but she also had a natural birth.
Furthermore, Daljinder really surprised the masses when she revealed that her body could still produce milk. She was breastfeeding her healthy baby. Although Arman was healthy, but he was several pounds underweight.
He was born at 4 pounds, compared to the 7.5 average. But there is no solid evidence that his weight is due to the mother's age, so it really is a moot point.
Because of our age people continue to ask what will happen to the child once we die? But I have full faith in God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent. He will take care of everything, proclaims the happy father.
In addition, like the story of Sarah's womb in the Bible. She and Abraham, the father of the Jews, had been trying to conceive their entire marriage. It was not until the age of 80 that an angel appeared saying that they would give birth to a son. So when did it happen? In his 90s.
They gave birth to a healthy boy named Isaac. Isaac means laughter, and it was called that because when Sarah eavesdropped on the angel and her husband, she laughed at the idea that she and her husband could enjoy so late in life.
Then it happened! The truth of the matter is that it really doesn't matter what anyone else believes. It is their own faith that saw them conceive a child, and we trust that it is this same faith that will help them navigate the ups and downs of raising him.
